
Open Ribbon: A Knitting Stitch Pattern
This pattern is intended for ribbon or string to run through the holes. I use it for edges of patterns or breaks between a piece. It’s a little bit of a mind bender, but once you have the pattern down, it’s smooth sailing.

The Pattern
K: Knit P: Purl YO: Yarn Over SL: Slip
Using any set of needles,
Cast On in sets of 4
Row1: Knit Across
Row2: Purl Across
Row3: *SL 2nd St on left needle over 1st, K1, SL 2, SL 2nd St on right needle over 1st, SL 1st st on right needle back to left, K1, * Repeat from * to * to end of row.
Row4: *P1, YO, YO, P1* Repeat from * to * to end of row.
Row5: Knit Across
Row6: Purl Across
Repeat rows 1-6 until the piece is desired length.
Finishing: Knit across, binding off.
