My Backyard Graduation Party
Growing up homeschooled was unconventional, to say the least. And, needless to say, when graduation time came around there were plenty of emotions. But, little by little my mama and I not only made it through but were able to enjoy the process as well. Here’s how we did it:
Some of the links I have provided below are affiliate links through which I will receive a small advertising compensation if a purchase is made. However, all opinions are my own and every product I personally recommend.
(This is the setup I had on the back porch)
For my graduation party, I knew I wanted to create a relaxed backyard BBQ feel while showcasing my life. Hopefully, you’ll be able to take and use some of these ideas in your own party.
- For the chalkboard banner, I used one from Hobby Lobby, but here’s one from Amazon that would work as well.
- For the cards box, I used a wall-mount mailbox from a resale shop.
- The photos I ordered from my local Wal-Mart. The sizes are Square Photo Prints and 8×10 prints.
- I laid the square prints out on the table for guests to look through, and taped the 8x10s to old windows I found at a resale shop.
I also took some of the square prints and taped them to string, and strung them along our porch rails (you could wrap or hang them on trees as well). For the fabric draping, I found a fabric roll at a local thrift store and stapled strips along the porch rails.
I used rug samples found at a resale shop for bonfire and lawn seating.
I used a piece of chalkboard for the sign.
Torches and outdoor lights are both from Wal-Mart.
Overall, the party didn’t end up costing a ton. Plus, most of the purchases we made was on things we will be able to use again. I hope you’ve been inspired!
