Moving to Alaska: An Update on Things
Recently, I accepted an internship in Alaska, for a roving corps team under AmeriCorps. For the next four months (May-August ’19), I will be camping in a national park in Alaska, with four others, with limited access to amenities. Our task is to up-keep trails, manage burn lines, and establish campsites. I’ve always wanted to visit Alaska so this will be the perfect opportunity! I am going to be able to travel and explore places I would never have been able to as a tourist, and I am terribly excited about the entire prospect.
One of the places I will be staying at this summer is Katmai National Park, a place known for its salmon and brown bears. The bulk of our work there will be trail building. We will be moving trails from highly populated bear zones to less populated bear zones.
For the majority of my time there, there will be little to no cell service or internet, so it may be a few weeks to a few months before I can respond to questions or emails. However, I am scheduling a few posts and stitch patterns to be released while I am gone, so the website will be updating. I can’t wait to share with you guys my experience out in the wild. I will update you guys when I can!
