Marsh Fern, Thelypteris palustris
In May, I was walking through a local pitcher plant bog on the coast of Alabama and ran into a bundle of Marsh Ferns. Rightfully so, as the ground was wet and marsh-like, just where one would anticipate to find them. Yet, it was still such a joy to happen upon these ferns, whether expected or not. Ferns always have a way of reminding me of southern homes in the summer with freshly painted white columns and hanging baskets hung in between. I found myself yearning for an old rocking chair to sit back in and a mason jar full of sweet tea, anticipating the warmer months to come and all the growth it will bring.
