Between a pine forest & a country road
“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir
Through all my short years I have learned that there is nothing a walk with nature cannot heal. It is often the simplest things that bring a peace to my heart. From the way the sun kisses the straw casting dancing shadows, to the way the pines creak in a summer storm. There is much to be learned from the steadiness of nature, and much I have yet to understand. There is no greater wisdom to be gained than the wisdom of an old pine forest. Truly, that is where the secrets of the world lie.
“And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul.” -John Muir
When I think back to my childhood home, I shall always think of the rolling thunder in the distance and the way the earth smells when honeysuckles bloom in the summer. I will always feel comforted when I see pines in the skyline or hear trees creaking in the wind. I know that one day my feet shall take me away from the place that I call home. But, I hope I shall never be too far from an old pine forest or a country road. For that, I do not think I could bear, because somehow, getting lost in the woods always feels like coming home.
